Às vezes, observar o que está acontecendo num país estrangeiro pode ajudar a enxergar o que está acontecendo no seu próprio pais. O seguinte comentário de Ricardo Noblat, publicado em Veja , a principal revista de notícias do Brasil, reflete em muitos aspectos, quase como um espelho, o que está acontecendo em outro país.

Citando a Jair Bolsonaro. o Presidente do Brasil, Noblat conta lo seguinte,
“’É melhor já ir se acostumando’, dizia um dos slogans da campanha de Jair Bolsonaro à Presidência, em 2018, num infame jogo de palavras com o nome do candidato para advertir o País sobre o que estava por vir. E, de fato, parece que uma parte considerável dos brasileiros já se acostumou à chocante degradação moral liderada pelo presidente Jair Bolsonaro e escolheu ignorar ou relativizar as robustas provas de que ele não tem – como jamais teve – a menor condição de exercer a Presidência.”
Descrevendo o conteúdo duma gravação da reunião do gabinete no día 22 de abril, publicado por meio de ordem judicial, Noblat resalta o seguinte:
“Em qualquer país civilizado, o teor da reunião do presidente…teria escandalizado todos, não só pelos múltiplos delitos ali cometidos e revelados, mas por explicitar a transformação da Presidência da República em propriedade privada de Bolsonaro, da qual, como um monarca absoluto, imagina poder dispor como bem entender. Aqui e ali, no entanto, houve gente disposta a dizer que nada de mais se passou na reunião – nem crimes nem desafio às instituições, só alguns exageros verbais do presidente e de seus ministros…”
A história relata muitos exemplos de sociedades, Noblat continúa,
“…que permitiram que gângsteres chegassem ao poder e, uma vez lá, por meio da propaganda e da intimidação, transformassem seus crimes em atos virtuosos, naturalizando sua imoralidade. Como consequência, todos os que tentassem impedi-los, fossem instituições ou partidos, eram, estes sim, considerados criminosos.
“Pois é exatamente o que se passa neste momento no Brasil. Conforme se vê na reunião ministerial de 22 de abril, ministros defenderam a prisão de magistrados que, em obediência à Constituição, tomaram decisões contra o governo e de prefeitos e governadores que, seguindo recomendações de autoridades de saúde, impuseram quarentena contra a pandemia de covid-19. Ou seja, delinquentes, no país dos bolsonaristas, são os que respeitam a lei e o bom senso. Tudo sob o olhar complacente do presidente da República – que por sua vez, em lugar de estimular o urgente debate sobre as medidas para conter a pandemia, que deveria ser sua única preocupação no momento, passou a destratar e ameaçar os ministros que não demonstrassem lealdade absoluta a ele e aos filhos, em constante detrimento da lei.
“A solução encontrada por Bolsonaro para desafiar os limites a seu poder, bem ao estilo dos governos totalitários em que se inspira, foi começar a criar uma espécie de Estado paralelo, em que as normas que valem não são as inscritas na Constituição, mas as que vagam na sua cabeça. Conforme ele mesmo revelou na reunião ministerial, depois de se queixar de que os órgãos oficiais não lhe passam “informações”, Bolsonaro disse que dispõe de um ‘sistema de informações particular: ”Sistema de informações, o meu funciona. O meu particular funciona. Os que têm (informações) oficialmente desinformam.'”
“Para Bolsonaro e seus camisas pardas, o Estado brasileiro, com suas instituições e sua Constituição, só existe para frustrar suas intenções revolucionárias – razão pela qual, conforme a ideologia bolsonariana explicitada pelo presidente na reunião, esse Estado que lhe tolhe os movimentos é, na prática, uma “ditadura” contra o “povo” que ele diz encarnar. A tal “ditadura” se revela, segundo Bolsonaro, por meio de governadores que impõem quarentena, por meio de ministros do Supremo que o impedem de nomear um amigo para chefiar a Polícia Federal, por meio das instituições judiciais que investigam seus filhos e por meio dos órgãos que não lhe dão informações às quais o presidente legalmente não pode ter acesso.
“Para lutar contra essa “ditadura” imaginária, Bolsonaro exige que o “povo” – isto é, a malta bolsonarista – se arme, conforme deixou claro na tal reunião. Em outras palavras, quer a formação de milícias armadas justamente para intimidar as autoridades do Estado que o bolsonarismo deseja destruir.
“Foi assim que, num passado não muito distante, na Itália do pré-guerra ou na Venezuela contemporânea, líderes fascistas, aliados a uma elite pusilânime ou simplesmente arrivista, começaram a demolir, tijolo por tijolo, o Estado Democrático de Direito. Mais do que nunca, é prudente levar a História a sério.”

Sometimes looking at what is going on in a foreign country can throw light on what is going on in one’s own. The following opinion piece by Ricardo Noblat in Veja , Brazil’s leading newsmagazine, reflects in many respects, almost like a mirror, what is going on in another country.

Quoting Jair Bolsonaro. the President of Brazil, Noblat relates the following,
“‘It is better to get used to it’, said one of the slogans of Jair Bolsonaro’s campaign for the Presidency in 2018, in an infamous play on words with the candidate’s name to warn the country about what was to come. And, in fact, it seems that a considerable part of Brazilians have already become accustomed to the shocking moral degradation led by President Jair Bolsonaro and has chosen to ignore or relativize the robust evidence that he does not have – as he never had – the most minimal qualificaqtions to exercise the Presidency.”
Describing the content of a recording of the cabinet meeting on April 22, published by court order, Noblat highlights the following:
“In any civilized country, the content of the president’s meeting … would have scandalized everyone, not only for the multiple crimes committed and revealed there, but for making explicit the transformation of the Presidency of the Republic into Bolsonaro’s private property, of which, as an absolute monarch, he imagines that he can dispose as he sees fit. Here and there, however, people were willing to say that nothing much happened at the meeting – neither crimes nor defiance of the institutions, just a few verbal exaggerations by the president and his ministers … “
History reports many examples of societies, Noblat continues,
“…that allowed gangsters to come to power and, once there, through propaganda and intimidation, turn their crimes into virtuous acts, naturalizing their immorality. As a consequence, all those who tried to prevent them, be they institutions or parties, were indeed considered criminals.
“This is exactly what is happening in Brazil right now. As seen at the ministerial meeting on April 22, ministers defended the arrest of magistrates who, in compliance with the Constitution, made decisions against the government, and of mayors and governors who, following recommendations by health officials, imposed a quarantine becasuse of the covid-19 pandemic… In other words, criminals in the country of the Bolsonarists are those who respect the law and common sense. All under the complacent eyes of the President of the Republic – who, in turn, instead of stimulating the urgent debate on measures to contain the pandemic, which should be his only concern at the moment, started to disrupt and threaten ministers who did not show loyalty to him and his children, in constant violsation of the law.
“The solution found by Bolsonaro to challenge the limits to his power, in the style of the totalitarian governments in which he finds inspiration, was to start creating a kind of parallel state, in which the norms that apply are not those inscribed in the Constitution, but those that wander around in his head. As he himself revealed in the ministerial meeting, after complaining that the official bodies do not give him “information”, Bolsonaro said he has a private “information system”: “Information system, mine works. My private works. Those who have (information) officially misinform ”.
“For Bolsonaro and his brown shirts, the Brazilian State, with its institutions and its Constitution, exists only to frustrate his revolutionary intentions – which is why, according to the Bolsonarian ideology explained by the president at the meeting, this State that hinders its movements is, in practice, a “dictatorship” against the “people” he says he incarnates. According to Bolsonaro, this “dictatorship” reveals itself through governors who impose quarantines, through Supreme Court Ministers who prevent him from appointing a friend to head the Federal Police, through judicial institutions that investigate his children and through bodies that do not give him information to which the President legally cannot have access.
“In order to fight against this imaginary “dictatorship”, Bolsonaro demands that the “people” – that is, the Bolsonarist people – arm themselves, as he made clear at that meeting. In other words, he wants the formation of armed militias precisely to intimidate the authorities of the State that Bolsonarism wishes to destroy.
“That is how, in the not-too-distant past, in pre-war Italy or contemporary Venezuela, fascist leaders, allied with a pusillanimous or simply upstart elite, began to demolish the democratic rule of law, brick by brick. More than ever, it is prudent to take history seriously.”
